Masked Individuals Reported in New Castle Neighborhood

Cameras captured at least two masked individuals in a New Castle, Delaware neighborhood late Friday night, with one reportedly wielding what appeared to be a rifle, according to police.

Images shared by the New Castle County Police show a man in a tactical-style vest holding what looks like a rifle as he knocks on a door. Another photo depicts a different individual, also masked, approaching a home while wearing a black vest.

Authorities were alerted around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, prompted by reports of suspicious activity on Canvasback Drive in Mallard Pointe. Residents described seeing a man donning a black hockey-style mask and a tactical vest, carrying what seemed to be a firearm as he approached houses.

Witnesses indicated that the man knocked on several doors before fleeing the scene. Additionally, police noted that four other men were spotted heading east on Mallard Road—two on bicycles and two on foot. Despite a thorough search of the area by officers and a K-9 unit, the individuals were not found.

While the police haven’t confirmed whether the weapons were genuine firearms, they suspect they might have been airsoft guns.
