Delaware attracts the largest number of bargain hunters in the U.S. this holiday season, with 85% considering themselves bargain hunters.
According to a national poll of 5,000 adults who celebrate Christmas, 70% of people in Brugen are more concerned about the celebrations, especially when buying gifts (59%), chocolates (33%) and food (26%). I've found that I love finding deals on.
This year, 43% strategically purchased holiday gifts to maximize their loyalty point balance.
Kentucky, a close second, typically spends four and a half hours each week looking for bargains.
Mississippi came in third, with 83% of respondents considering themselves bargain hunters.
It also found that 64 percent of Mississippi residents fear having to buy something at full price, and 73 percent of Kentucky residents feel the same way.
A spokesperson for Virgin Red, which commissioned the research, said: “Everyone loves a good deal so it will be interesting to see which states come out on top.”
“It feels great when you get a discount on something you've always wanted to buy, or when you redeem your loyalty points for a special experience or milestone trip.”
The survey also found that using loyalty programs is one of the most preferred ways for Americans to save money during the holiday season (38%).
The average American signed up to three different plans to get more cash.
However, as many as 40% of people have accumulated loyalty points that they haven't redeemed yet, with an estimated value of $546.
55% plan to save their points for something bigger instead of spending them immediately after receiving them.
However, 43% make many of their daily purchases based on whether they will get some return on their spending.
According to a survey conducted through OnePoll.com, some people prefer to compare prices online (49 percent) and take advantage of free shipping offers (41 percent) before making a purchase.
The survey also found that 56% are worried about holiday costs this year and 83% are trying to be smart as U.S. prices continue to rise.
A Virgin Red spokesperson added:
