Police have arrested a delivery truck driver in a horrific hit-and-run crash that killed a 16-year-old girl and injured her 8-year-old sister in Queens last month.
Police said Wednesday that 29-year-old Boubacar Barry was the driver of the water delivery truck that struck Jael Zinin and her brother at the intersection of 47th Avenue and 46th Street in Woodside on June 26.
Barry allegedly ignored pedestrians’ right-of-way at a left turn signal and ran into the crosswalk as the sisters tried to cross the intersection.
He then fled in a vehicle, which was spotted by police nearby at the intersection of 46th Avenue and 48th Street.
Barry, who was not injured, was arrested Tuesday morning at a building on Broome Street in Manhattan, police said.
He faces charges including manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and failure to yield to pedestrians, according to the New York Police Department.
