An airline passenger shared a photo of a fellow passenger's jacket draped over his seat on social media, sparking a discussion on Reddit.

The user wrote, “No. Just keep waiting for seat D to appear and close this.”

In the photo, a green winter coat is draped behind the aisle seat, and the seat behind it is empty.

On a subreddit forum titled “r/delta,” users debated passenger etiquette after a passenger left his jacket draped over his seat.

A user commented, “I can't understand the lack of awareness.''

Another said: “It's not awareness that's missing, it's compassion,” adding: “They're just counting on nobody saying anything.”

“That's really disgusting. There's literally so much space in the open overhead bins,” another added.

The plane passenger who started the Reddit chain updated his followers on the situation when the person sitting in the empty seat behind the jacket arrived.

Delta's website has guidelines regarding personal items for passengers.

“In addition to regular carry-on items, these items can be brought on board for free. Flight attendants will assist you with large items such as strollers,” the site says.
