Delta Air Lines has hired a law firm to seek compensation from Microsoft and CrowdStrike over the global cyber outage that disrupted air travel around the world earlier this month. CNBC reported: Monday.
The Atlanta-based airline has been the slowest of any major U.S. airline to recover after a technical outage that caused the cancellation of more than 2,200 flights on July 19.
Delta has canceled more than 6,000 flights so far, stranding hundreds of thousands of travelers, and analysts estimate the hit to the airline’s revenue could run into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Department of Transportation announced last week that it was opening an investigation into the airline, and Delta has said it would cooperate.
Microsoft, Delta and law firm Boies Schiller Flexner did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

“We are aware of the reports but are unaware of the lawsuit and have no further comment,” a CrowdStrike spokesperson said.
CrowdStrike shares fell about 2% in after-hours trading.
