Rep. Chris Delfio (D-Pa.) on Sunday called for Democrats to fight “not just good politics” with President Trump.
“I think it's common sense that this administration is doing dangerous things, and when it's not just good politics, it's a good policy for the country, I think Democrats want them to stand in their position,” Delgio told News Nation's Chris Steelwalt on “Hill Sunday.”
“And again, I'm someone who believes to find as many common ground as possible, but when it came time to fight for your people, you were able to stand in your position,” he added.
Deluzio's comments follow Democrats' internal disparities over the funding bill voted by 10 Senators to move forward on Friday. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) was one of the members who voted to advance the bill after his fellow New York Democrat, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, criticised him on Thursday after he said he would.
“There's a deep sense of anger and betrayal,” Ocasio-Cortez previously told reporters. “And this isn't just progressive Democrats. It's all over the board – the whole party.”
Delugio also called the funding bill “bad” on Sunday, saying it “had hurt a lot of my community.”
“And I think Senate Democrats should be in their position when they're not included in negotiations, when they're covered in ice, when our people get hurt,” Delgio said. “And I think it's not just a Democrat issue, that's what our people expect from us,” he added.
