Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., suggested former President Donald Trump should consider dropping out of the presidential race following his performance in Tuesday night's debate.
Moskowitz released a statement on Wednesday titled “Trump's Ability to Continue His Campaign,” which echoed his sentiments about Biden after his clashes with Trump earlier this year.
“Let's be honest, former President Donald Trump's debate performance last night was disastrous and painful to watch,” Moskowitz said.
“I believe now is the time to have the difficult conversation about whether the former president should continue to run for president of the Republican Party,” he continued. “For now, I want to give him time to meet with his family and make a decision.”

Debate polls suggested the majority of viewers thought Harris had won: A CNN poll of debate viewers showed 63% thought she had won at the end of the 90-minute debate, while 37% thought Trump had won.
Trump's performance, however, did not spark the widespread shock and concern among Republicans across the Democratic Party following Biden's debate performance in July, which ultimately led Biden to withdraw from the race and endorse Harris instead.

When asked about Moskowitz's comments on Wednesday, Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chang said, “Mr. Moskowitz is a huge idiot,” according to The Hill.

President Trump responded to his performance on “Hannity” late Tuesday night, saying he thought it was “the best debate ever,” but slamming ABC News hosts David Muir and Lindsey Davis.

“I thought it was really good. It was 3-1 but that's what I expected,” he said.

Fox News host Sean Hannity questioned Trump about reports that the Harris campaign is hoping for a second debate in October and asked if Trump would be open to it. Fox News has sent formal invitations to both the Trump and Harris campaigns for the second debate next month.

“She wanted it because she lost,” Trump responded. “I don't know. I'd have to think about it. But if you won the debate, I don't think I should do it. Why do we have another debate?” she quickly added. I would like to discuss this again. It's like… you know what happens when you lose as a professional boxer? You immediately want a new fight.”
