Dem Harris County D.A.: Nungaray Killing ‘Bound to Happen’ — ‘Great Deal of Violence Committed by Illegal Immigrants’

On Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” broadcast Tuesday, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg (D) said the “violence caused by illegal immigration is on the rise” and that the murder of Jocelyn Nangaray was “deadpan.” Ogg also said that “border agents, sheriffs and local police are under immense pressure because of the additional crimes being committed by people coming across the border.”

“Houston is a big international hub here in the Southwest and we bring people from all over the country and unfortunately we’ve seen a lot of violence committed by illegal immigrants and a lot of victimization by other illegal immigrants and civilians as well,” Ogg said. “So this is a big problem. This was waiting to happen. As an elected prosecutor, you’re kind of waiting for the next thing to happen. I’m just disgusted that this little girl was an innocent victim of these two monsters.”

Co-host Dana Perino asked, “Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is in Texas today and will be visiting the border. What would you want him to know about the pressure that law enforcement and prosecutors are under given the situation at the border?”

Ogg responded, “Thank you for raising that point. Border agents, sheriffs and local police are under immense pressure from the rise in crime committed by people streaming across the border. Here in Houston, we are seeing increased levels of violence because it is the first stop and hub for these people. It’s demoralizing for police and prosecutors when they see people committing crimes while wearing ankle monitors. It raises the question of why they were released in the first place.”
