Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman allegedly set off the fire alarm at the Cannon House office building.

Investigation is ongoing.

The Hill reported:

Rep. Jamal Bowman (D.Y.) raised a fire alarm Saturday at the Cannon House office building about an hour before the House passed a stopgap measure to fund the government ahead of a midnight deadline. The instrument rang.

The building was evacuated due to the fire alarm.

It’s unclear why the lawmaker raised the alarm, but New York state Rep. Elise Stefanik told The Hill that the lawmaker was trying to delay the vote.

House Administration Committee Chairman Brian Steele (R-Wis.) said he would launch an investigation into the incident.
