Democrat challenging AOC for congressional seat slams ‘terrible leadership’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Democratic primary challenger is echoing Kevin O’Leary’s scathing criticism of Squad members’ leadership in the New York City district.

House candidate Marty Dolan told “Fox & Friends First” on Friday that AOC is “not going to let her run a candy store” after the “Shark Tank” co-host said: “I’m not going to let her run a candy store.” He said it has become “bad for the region.”

“I think the impact of AOC’s truly horrendous leadership is far worse than a single candy store,” Dolan said, arguing that businesses are scared away from operating in her district. . “So if you’re not pro-business, it’s not just that you’re a bad manager or a bad leader, it’s bad for the community as a whole.”

Ocasio-Cortez has been criticized for running a successful political campaign to block Amazon’s second headquarters in Queens in 2020.

Job Creators Network CEO Alfredo Ortiz told Fox News Digital at the time that his campaign would cause the city to lose “25,000 good-paying jobs” and that “everywhere “We sent a message to job creators that they are no longer welcome in our city.”

O’Leary slammed Ocasio-Cortez in a recent interview, telling Outkick’s “Keeping Up with Tyrus” that her district was like a “Third World country.”

“When I look at AOC, what an incredibly successful politician she is and what a horrible manager she is,” he told Tyrus.

Mr. O’Leary then asked New York voters, “Why do you want to reward it? Why do you want to say, ‘Excuse me, can you take better care of me? I live here. I pay my taxes here. Why don’t you say, ‘I want to do this because I’m paying for it?’”

Dolan, who describes himself as a moderate Democrat, said his party “used to be about unions and protecting people with jobs,” but now the district’s policies “are geared toward AOC’s interests.” He said he had become “selfish.”

Mr. Dolan, who is also the son of Argentine refugees, expressed concern about progressive Democrats trying to introduce socialism in the United States.

“It’s as if they’re trying to turn the United States into Venezuela, and this is this great socialist experiment of the last six years. This is Bernie Sanders and AOC trying to turn the United States into Venezuela. ”

Dolan told Fox News in March that he intended to capitalize on residents’ “frustration” and showcase how good AOC may seem in the media, but not so good to the general public. .

“There’s a lot of dissatisfaction within the district,” he said, noting that “a lot of what AOC has been doing has been very good in the headlines, but not so good on the streets.”

“So whether it’s the Green New Deal, whether it’s the Amazon deal, whether it’s immigrants coming into the country on voter benefits, she really puts the headlines first and the voters second,” he said. added.
