Democrat congressman says his home was vandalized by pro-Palestinian protesters demanding a ceasefire

A Democratic congressman said his home in Bellevue, Washington, destroyed Pro-Palestinian demonstrators calling for a ceasefire in the Israeli-Hamas war.

This was announced by Representative Adam Smith of Washington State. statement Regarding the vandalism that occurred on his social media accounts on Friday.

“Last night, my home was destroyed by those advocating a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza. This attack sadly reflects the deterioration of our political discourse and is completely unjust to our political system. and unnecessary and harmful,” Smith said.

He went on to condemn the extremism that has crept into current political debates.

“Extremism on both the left and right of our political spectrum is a threat to a healthy and functioning democracy, and has been tolerated for far too long. The simple truth is that extremism on both sides is a threat to our country. It has degraded our political system and must be eradicated if our democracy is to survive.”

The Bellevue Police Department confirmed that its officers responded to a report of a malicious mischief around 9:13 a.m. Friday.

Ms Smith’s spokeswoman, Jaelyn O’Halloran, said the garage had been spray-painted with red paint, but her office declined to release photos of the vandalism. They indicated that the U.S. Capitol Police had been notified of the incident.

Israel has resumed military operations in the Gaza Strip after agreeing to a multi-day ceasefire to exchange some hostages taken by Palestinian prisoners and Hamas terrorists.

Mr. Smith has previously expressed support for Israel and its “goal of significantly discrediting and ultimately eliminating the terrorist organization Hamas.”

He also condemned He called the vandalism of a synagogue in his congressional district last month “heartbreaking” and “an act of brutality.”
