Struggles on Air
On Monday, former Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Pat Murphy found it challenging to give due credit to Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett during an interview with Fox News host Harris Faulkner. Crockett is eyeing a Senate bid for the seat currently occupied by Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn. Additionally, she’s urging former Democratic Rep. Colin Allred to run for the House seat instead.
Murphy mentioned Crockett’s noticeable presence in media and her confrontations with Republicans during congressional hearings. “In Congressional hearings, she’s been pretty tough. Listen, I’m talking about her record as a legislator… I think she’s holding this administration accountable for a lot of different things,” he stated. “She’s adamant about sticking to what the Constitution says and doesn’t say. I’ve seen some of her Congressional hearings. She’s smart and has experience as a public defender for the district before taking office, and she’s been quite active. There’s no denying she’s not just another politician but a key figure in holding this administration accountable.”
Murphy also noted that Democratic Congressman James Talarico is in the mix for the primary. Faulkner responded, questioning the details of what Cornyn has done, implying that Crockett should have a more concrete record as well. “What you gave me was her public influencer profile,” she remarked.
In a debate back in November, Crockett inaccurately accused EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin of taking money from registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a claim made during a discussion about a bill aimed at compelling the Trump administration to release documents related to Epstein.
Moreover, during a recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” Crockett stirred controversy when she compared U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations to “slave patrols.” She has gained prominence among House Democrats, especially after her confrontational exchange with Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in May 2024. This included her using profanity and making a disparaging remark about Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who is in a wheelchair due to a back injury, referring to him as “Governor Hot Wheels.”
