Democratic Strategist Speaks on Ocasio-Cortez’s Recent Challenges
During a segment on “America’s Newsroom,” Democratic strategist Marissa DeRosa conveyed her amusement at the struggles of New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. DeRosa commented on Ocasio-Cortez’s lengthy and, at times, incoherent remarks at the Munich Security Conference regarding potential military assistance to Taiwan if China were to attack.
When co-host Dana Perino inquired if DeRosa’s attempts to defend Ocasio-Cortez were yielding any success, she candidly replied, “No, no, no… as a moderate Democrat, I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying this collapse.” DeRosa pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez willingly took the stage, facing complex foreign policy topics she had not adequately prepared for. She characterized Ocasio-Cortez as a quintessential representative of the more extreme wing of the Democratic Party, often associated with millennials and platforms like TikTok.
In addition to the challenges posed by her Munich speech, Ocasio-Cortez also faced scrutiny for an incorrect statement about Venezuela’s geographical position while critiquing the operation against former dictator Nicolas Maduro. Furthermore, she erroneously mocked Secretary of State Marco Rubio over misconceptions about the origins of cowboys.
Historically, after Hernán Cortés defeated the Aztec Empire in 1519, Spanish settlers introduced horses to the Americas, leading to the training of indigenous peoples in cattle driving, as noted on history.com.
