Democratic DA Fani Willis slapped with yet another disqualification request

A 229-page court complaint filed Monday alleges that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis “engaged in a series of prosecutorial and forensic misconduct” and that Trump’s co-defendant, the former Georgia Republican They are seeking to disqualify chairperson David Schaefer from overseeing the Georgia case.

February 5th
motionadopted by another Trump co-defendant, former Coffee County Republican Party Chair Kathy Latham, also calls for the disqualification of Willis’ office and all prosecutorial staff.

The latest charges filed on Schaefer’s behalf come days after Willis admitted to having an affair with Nathan Wade, a married and ostensibly unqualified man whom Willis named to lead the Georgia case. I was disappointed. This is the fourth motion to disqualify the daughter of the Black Panthers since January 8th.

Mr. Latham’s adoption means a total of five defendants in the Georgia case are seeking Mr. Willis’ ouster. The other three are former President Donald Trump, Michael Roman, Bob Cheeley.

The Feb. 5 motion to disqualify Willis echoes many of the claims originally made in Roman’s Jan. 8 motion to disqualify him regarding possible criminal misconduct and misconduct on the part of Democrats. He corrected himself and emphasized that the cause of his disqualification was all self-harm. ”

“The District Attorney hired Mr. Wade to investigate and prosecute defendants, paid Mr. Wade more than $500,000 from the Fulton County Treasury, while providing Mr. Wade with district attorney vacation and other personal expenses.” “This not only constitutes a disqualifying conflict of interest, but also a potential violation of the Code of Ethics applicable to attorneys and Fulton County employees, as well as criminal law,” said Schaefer’s attorney, Craig. A. Gillen wrote.

Willis’ attorney argued Friday.
National response In response to an earlier motion to dismiss and disbar, stating that she had no financial or personal conflict of interest that would warrant removal.

Mr. Wade said in an affidavit attached to Mr. Willis’ Friday response that the cost of the romantic getaway was “split approximately evenly between us,” but Mr. Schaefer’s motion does not. It suggests that this is not the case, and argues that the publicly shared receipts show that it is “by no means ‘approximately’ equal.” report Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Receipts from Wade’s divorce case revealed that the special prosecutor apparently blew $7,200 on airline tickets, hotels and cruise reservations for his trip with Willis. Meanwhile, the Democratic congressman apparently spent just $697 on a flight to Miami.

Mr. Wade apparently commands a higher hourly wage than at least one other special prosecutor in Mr. Willis’s office, has billed the county more than $728,000 in legal fees, and has been conveniently charged by the DA’s office. Because of his approval, it appears he was in a better position to be paid more.

Like President Trump’s motion to disqualify, the Feb. 5 filing suggests that Willis’s published comments “subjected the defense to significant prejudice.”

“In a significant departure from the legal guardrails meant to protect defendants from inappropriate and extrajudicial statements made by prosecutors, the district attorney has given multiple interviews over a year and a half, unfairly labeling some of his statements. ” accused the defendant as a “fake elector” and commented on the legitimacy of her investigation and prosecution,” the motion states.

The turning point came on Jan. 14, when Willis gave a speech to a church congregation in which she described herself as a victim and implied her critics were racist, according to the filing.

In addition to biasing potential jurors, violating his oath of office and violating ethics rules, the motion alleges that Willis’ actions violated Georgia law regarding the employment of assistant district attorneys.

The Journal Constitution reported that Schaefer told Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee that Democrats would choose the venue for the later stages of the case “to ensure an impartial and less politically partisan jury.” It was reported that the county requested that the change be made to a county that does not have an overwhelmingly large number of people.

After all, a supermajority of Fulton County voters supported Joe Biden in 2020.

Blaze News previously reported that McAfee, who is in charge, said: State vs. Donald John Trumphas scheduled an evidentiary hearing on February 15 to address the allegations of misconduct.

In addition to calls for her removal, Willis also faces an investigation by the Georgia Senate, pressing questions about possible fraud from the county board of supervisors, a push for impeachment in the state Legislature, and a congressional investigation. There is.
