Democratic official claims Trump should be acknowledged for Middle East peace agreement

Democratic Congressman Acknowledges Trump’s Role in Middle East Peace Deal

While many Democrats have steered clear of acknowledging President Donald Trump’s influence on the recent Middle East peace agreement, Congressman Josh Gottheimer from New Jersey takes a different stance. He is ready to “give credit where credit is due.”

On “Fox & Friends,” Gottheimer highlighted that Trump’s administration played a crucial role. He personally experienced this when, with Trump’s assistance, a hostage from New Jersey, Edan Alexander, was freed. Gottheimer expressed his gratitude, emphasizing, “I give him all the credit.”

He further explained, “This shouldn’t be a partisan issue. As Americans, we should all take pride in what our leadership has accomplished.”

Gottheimer noted that he couldn’t speak for other Democrats, especially senators like Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Hakeem Jeffries of New York, who didn’t mention Trump in their social media posts about the peace efforts.

However, several prominent figures, including former President Bill Clinton and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, joined Gottheimer in recognizing Trump’s efforts.

Additionally, Gottheimer referred to the 100 hostages released during President Biden’s term, saying, “They deserve credit, too.”

He mentioned the importance of acknowledging everyone involved: “This is a moment to honor the parents and families affected.” Yet, he pointed to the ongoing challenges, particularly regarding Hamas, stressing the need to keep its influence at bay.

Gottheimer also pointed out the urgency to facilitate the release of additional hostages, as several remain unaccounted for, emphasizing the families’ need for closure.

“There’s still so much to do,” he said, calling for collaboration rather than blame. “Great American leadership was evident yesterday, and it’s something we should all take pride in.”
