CNN political commentator and former Obama adviser Van Jones on CNN's “newsroom” on Sunday said the Democrats' current status was a “nightmare.”
Jones said, “Can I ask another question? Can I keep talking about my party? Can I talk about Ukraine or something? No, look, man, we're screwed. I mean, the Democrats don't know what to do. This is a nightmare. People like Donald Trump thought that he had Hekim Jeffries in the speaker chair at least to hold him down. If there wasn't Kamala there to do the right thing.”
He added: “Listen, Democrats are going through a massive internal crisis. There are parties trapped in two ways. One is to defend the broken status quo, where no one likes because you thought Donald Trump would make it worse. But when you're defending the status quo, you'll lose. And attack most people in the country, all people call sexist and racist and transphobic, and all other names, then follow us. That's not a good strategy, people. defending the broken status quo and attacking most of the country is not as popular as my party thought it would. And it'll take a while for people to understand it.”
