Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill announces bid for New Jersey governor, faces crowded field

Rep. Mikie Sherrill on Monday became the second Democrat to jump into New Jersey's increasingly crowded 2025 gubernatorial race.

Sherrill, who represents parts of Morris, Essex and Passaic counties in the House of Representatives, is a former Navy pilot and federal prosecutor, and Drumthwacket is a Democrat because current Gov. Phil Murphy is not eligible to seek a third term. I want to keep it in my hands.

Sherrill took aim at the president-elect in her announcement video.
