After former President Trump escaped a second assassination attempt, Democrats are refusing to tone down their rhetoric calling the former president a “threat to democracy.”
FOX Business reporter Hilary Vaughn asked Democrats in Congress whether they should hold back on their comments.
“The fact is, he's a threat to democracy,” said Rep. Hank Johnson, a Democrat from Georgia.
“It's clear that he is a threat to democracy,” said Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.). “His (Trump's) rhetoric must absolutely be restrained,” he said.
“He's a threat. That's it. It's clear,” said Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas.

Rep. Mike Lawler, D-New York, slammed Democrats' rhetoric on Friday, telling “Fox & Friends” that “everyone needs to tone their voices down” as the election approaches.
“It's ridiculous to call him a threat to democracy. Our democracy will continue as it has for 248 years. We'll be fine no matter who wins the election,” Lawler said.
“At the same time, they misled the public for a year about Joe Biden's cognitive ability, and then they undermined 14.6 million Democratic primary voters to oust Biden and install Kamala Harris as president. You can't talk about a threat to democracy when you're doing things like that,” Lawler said.

“The left is completely insensitive to the consequences of their inflammatory rhetoric,” Rep. Nancy Mace (R.C.) said on “Fox & Friends First.”
“I receive these threats every day. I can't imagine the fear the Trump family must feel every time they go out. They are outspoken. They love their country. They shouldn't be shot for loving the United States of America the way Donald Trump does,” Mace said.

Earlier this year, in a private call with donors, President Biden said the media had not scrutinized Trump enough and that “it's time to target him.” After the first assassination attempt on Trump, Biden said: He admitted it was a “mistake.” Use that term.

“It's becoming increasingly dangerous. We saw what happened on January 6th when he used inflammatory rhetoric, and then his more recent untrue social posts are incredibly frightening to anyone looking to work in government. And at this point, there's no question that he should never be able to hold public office again. Not only is he unfit, he's subversive of our democracy and must be removed.”
Goldman strongly condemn After the first assassination attempt on President Trump, he said he was “horrified” by political violence. After the second assassination attempt, Goldman said: He was “indignant.”
Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters has long Criticized Republican He made statements that could be seen as inciting violence, including telling protesters in Minnesota to “be more confrontational” and urging Democrats to confront Trump administration officials if they see them in public.
