Democrats Likely to Delay Pete Hegseth’s Confirmation Until After Inauguration

“This doesn't need to drag on,” he added. “He has the votes.”

Mr. Hegseth's strong performance in Tuesday's nomination hearing was a sign that some previously reluctant supporters, including Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), have been reluctant to support him. It attracted universal support from Republicans, including those who were.

Meanwhile, Democrats, who launched vicious attacks on his character in public hearings and regurgitated anonymous slurs, have complained in recent days that he is unfit to lead the department.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), whose “gotcha” attempt against Hegseth failed spectacularly, told the media she doesn't expect the Senate to rush into a confirmation vote on Hegseth.
