The House will not hold a vote this week regarding the resolutions involving President Trump, which could be seen as a win for the Democratic leadership that has deemed the issue less pressing.
Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) initially introduced seven resolutions aiming to address certain privileges linked to Trump. He began moving these resolutions through the House for a potential vote. In response, the GOP leadership scheduled a vote for Wednesday evening to potentially dismiss or stall his initiatives.
However, on Wednesday, Thanedar announced he would pause his efforts, citing that new concerns have arisen regarding Trump’s actions over the past few weeks since the resolutions were proposed.
“In just 15 days since I introduced my seven resolutions against President Trump, he has taken a $400 million civil jet from Qatar, showcasing even more serious and troubling actions that even Congressional Republicans have deemed unacceptable,” he stated on X.
“After discussing this with many of my colleagues, I’ve decided not to pursue the vote today,” he added. “Instead, I’ll focus on drafting new articles and continue to uphold the Constitution, seeking bipartisan support.”
