Democrats Taking Time Off to Visit Red States and Attempt to Change Opinions About Trump

Democrats are gearing up for a summer tour aimed at winning over voters in Red States, featuring well-known progressives like Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts and Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas.

This initiative, named “We Don’t Back Down: Flip the House Around,” will see various Democrats traveling to places like Nebraska and Arizona, all with the goal of shifting the balance of power in the upcoming 2026 elections. Their strategy focuses on criticizing Republican policies.

“This summer, we’re taking a stand with our bold leaders who are fighting against President Trump and the Republicans. Are you ready to hold them accountable for their tax cut favors to billionaires?”

Interestingly, the tour is backed by MoveOn.org, a progressive group that recently received $2.5 million from George Soros’s Open Society Foundation. They’ve also reported receiving significant funds from various Democratic organizations.

Recently, Crockett called former President Donald Trump “an aspiring Hitler” and will be working to sway voters in districts led by Republican officials like Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert. She’ll be joined by Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut and Representative Yassamin Ansari from Arizona.

Democrats plan to spotlight recent changes to Medicaid spearheaded by Republicans, which they argue could lead to over a trillion dollars in long-term savings.

They have condemned the significant Medicaid changes, labeling them as extreme and unprecedented, claiming that Republicans are “cutting Medicaid while giving tax breaks to billionaires.” Warren is slated to visit Nebraska in August as part of this tour, hoping to unseat Republican Representative Don Bacon.

However, the Democratic portrayal of these Medicaid revisions lacks important context. Since 2019, Medicaid spending has surged by 51%, and their criticisms often overlook reforms aimed at closing loopholes and enforcing job requirements for able-bodied individuals.

Republicans argue that these changes won’t strip people of their healthcare and predict that Medicaid spending will continue to grow significantly in the coming decades, although it may slow if these reforms are enacted.

Maxwell Frost, a figure in Florida, is also involved, having traveled to El Salvador with Warren to engage with suspected gang members.

Moreover, the GOP has rolled back many of Biden-era subsidies and tax incentives for green energy in the settlement bill, making this a key issue for Democrats who warn about climate change impacts. However, it seems climate change isn’t a top concern for voters, especially among those leaning Republican, which complicates the Democrats’ messaging.

Since their significant losses in 2024, Democrats have been grappling with internal divisions on how to move forward, debating whether to adopt a more moderate approach or continue embracing progressive figures who may not resonate with traditional members of the party.

Requests for comments from Warren, Crockett, Murphy, Ansari, and Frost went unanswered.
