Democrats Tell Biden to Get Migrants into U.S. Before Leaving Office

Several Senate Democrats are lobbying President Joe Biden to allow as many immigrants into the United States as possible and allow them to stay indefinitely before he leaves office and President-elect Donald Trump enters the White House. We are conducting activities.

This week, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), and Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) sent the following message: letter Before leaving office next month, Biden called for immigration benefits to be given to large groups of undocumented people and other immigrants in the United States.

“In addition to supporting strong border security, we are committed to ensuring that DACA recipients, TPS holders, and other immigrants who are vital members of our communities and economies are not forgotten during this busy time. We are working diligently,” the senators wrote.

In particular, the senators urged Biden to extend eligibility for the maximum period of time that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will allow for the hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. We hope to be allowed to extend the term.

Similarly, senators are asking Biden to extend and redesignate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for several countries, allowing newly arrived immigrants from those countries to remain in the United States; Immigrants already in the United States will be able to stay longer than currently allowed.

“What I'm taking is what I'm hearing from the incoming administration: They're going to do mass deportations and no one will be safe,” Cortez Masto said. said This week on MSNBC. “That's why I'm calling on the government to intervene now to protect some immigrant communities: TPS recipients and DACA recipients.”

Already, the Biden administration has increased the foreign-born population by nearly 7 million people since January 2021, bringing the number of foreign nationals living in the United States to an unprecedented nearly 52 million.
