‘Democrats Will Rue the Day They Decided to Use Lawfare’ to Stop Trump

As the left celebrated a Manhattan jury finding former President Donald Trump guilty on all 34 charges in his business records trial, Sen. Megyn Kelly warned that Democrats “will rue the day” they decided to use low-fire legal battles to target the former president.

While many on the left are celebrating the news that President Trump has been convicted in the business records trial, Kelly warned that this is just the beginning and sets a precedent for a legal war against former presidents.

“The appropriate word is corruption. This is a before and after moment for America. What happened today is a red line that cannot be crossed and Democrats will rue the day they decided to use the force of the law to stop a presidential nominee,” Kelly said, making it clear he was not referring to violence.

“I’m not talking about violence. I’m talking about retaliation. If we wait, Hunter Biden won’t show up,” she said, warning that it opened the door for Democrats to seek Republican revenge against big-name Democrats, including Joe Biden and possibly former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

“We would need to look at what the statute of limitations is for the various crimes that they certainly committed. We would need to consider passing a law to reinstate those expired crimes, felonies or misdemeanors, and bring those cases into the statute of limitations. That might be in the interest of justice, just like the New York law was enacted against E. Jean Carroll so that she could sue him,” she said, adding background on the case.

“That’s what happened,” she said, calling it “fair play.”

“John Yoo, a brilliant lawyer who worked in the Justice Department under Bush, came out with a fantastic article today saying that’s the only way they’re going to learn. The only way we’re going to save the republic now is for them to taste the same thing. That’s it,” she said, noting that Democrats “tasted blood today.”

“They’re the wolf with bloody meat in his mouth, and yet the wolf will come back to eat them again. The only way to stop him is to lose a limb of his own,” she said, explaining that Democrats started the game and so it’s fair play.

She continued:

Sorry, but Democrats started this game the same way Republicans have raised the stakes when it comes to, say, the filibuster fight. Democrats eliminated the filibuster for lower court judges. Mitch McConnell said, “You’re going to regret it, because one day we’re going to control this Congress, and you’re going to regret losing a filibuster on the higher courts.” That’s what has to happen here. Will Joe Biden be indicted next? Will Jill Biden? How low can we go? You might not want to see it. That ship has already left port. That horse has left the barn. That’s where we’re headed.

“So before you get too excited about MSNBC and CNN rejoicing over this ridiculous guilty verdict, take a moment and ask yourself, what Pandora’s box has been opened here,” she added.

In fact, many Democrats, anti-Trump activists, and the mainstream media were quick to toss around the phrase “convicted felon” and get very excited about it immediately after the jury’s verdict.

But Trump has already warned that “the real verdict will be made by the American people on November 5th.”

“We will keep fighting. We will fight to the end, and we will win, because our country has gone to hell,” Trump said.
