Kamala Harris was dealt a major blow when the Teamsters union decided not to endorse her presidential candidate.

An internal Teamsters poll showed Trump winning.

Democrats are privately worried about that.

Politico reported:

It's been eight years since Donald Trump shattered the Blue Wall, but some Democrats worry he could do it again.

Most polls show Kamala Harris tied or leading Trump in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin after her dominant debate performance. Party leaders are publicly confident. But on the ground, nervous elected officials, strategists and allies are privately pointing out warning signs for the vice president.

The Teamsters this week reserved their support for Harris even though an internal survey showed a majority of respondents backed Trump, raising fresh concerns that the Republican candidate could garner more support than expected among union members, especially men. Union leaders in other areas have said that, as in 2016 and 2020, the former president continues to hold sway over key segments of their membership despite his anti-union record. Democrats privately say Harris still has work to do to win over older, white, working-class voters who make up the bulk of Rust Belt voters and have been hit hard by high prices.

“Frankly, Trump has a strong working-class base that supports his message,” said Jimmy Williams, president of the International Painting and Allied Workers Union, which has endorsed Harris. “It's fluid, it's been moving, but the tide hasn't turned.”
