Democrats Would Be Responsible for Government Shutdown

President Donald Trump said he will be responsible for the government's closure after the ongoing resolution (CR) passed the House on Wednesday.

Trump held Democrats accountable while talking to reporters during his oval office with North Atlantic Treaty Agency (NATO) executive director Mark Latte.

Trump noted that if Senate Democrats don't take part in passing this CR, they “stop all these good things we have to offer” as Republicans will appear to pass major tax and border laws on one bill or pass separately shortly after Trump's mandate election, where borders and the economy were top two issues.

“If there's a closure, it's just for the Democrats and they'll really take a lot away from our country and the people in our country,” he added.

CR passed the House with all Republicans except Rep. Thomas Massey (R-KY) in a 217-213 vote. Rep. Jared Golden (R-ME) was the only Democrat to vote for the bill.

All eyes are on Senate Democrats as the government is set to expire at the end of Friday, and Republicans need to join them to reach the 60-vote threshold to allow CR floor voting and avoid government shutdowns. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on Wednesday that Democrats would reject the funding bill. But Schumer's attitude, noted by Bradley Jaye, associate political editor of Breitbart News, reportedly began to change, at least behind the scenes, as of Thursday. hill:

hill Report They say Senate Democrats are giving private security and will not allow the government to be shut down despite the growing chokeholds against political parties calling for further resistance to Trump.

The report says Schumer has insisted on a short-term CR amendment vote to give the harvester more time to negotiate a massive omnibus bill, but he is giving his “centrist” space to close the debate and move on to the final passage.

Quoting Democrats who are well versed in internal deliberations, hill Schumer's Wednesday positioning against CR reports an operation “designed to save faces.”

Trump heard Thursday that “many Democrats would vote for it,” and he personally heard that he “talked to some of them.”
