Doesn’t a book that uses scenes built with LEGO to spread God’s word to children sound like a cute idea?
Well, that might have been the case if the book in question, “The Brick Bible,” actually promoted the Word of God. But the book does the opposite.
“Bibles” are distributed at Vacation Bible Schools and sold to believers as containing the contents of the Bible, but the books themselves are written by atheists and are used to argue against the God of the Bible, not to lead children to God.
“The problem is, it’s actually quite blatant. It’s quite cruel, it’s not theologically accurate and it actually seems intended to shock and upset.” Allie Beth Stuckey Many comments that people can “sympathize with.”
The book was first published in 2001 and contains the first six stories from the Book of Genesis. Over the next decade, about 5,000 additional Biblical scenes were added and illustrated with LEGO bricks.
“This film depicts a biblical story in a way that is not only violent, but sexually explicit. It mocks the nature and character of God by portraying him as just a flashy being,” Stuckey explained, adding, “It’s trying to argue against the God of the Bible.”
Not surprisingly, author Brendan Powell-Smith came out as transgender in 2015 and describes herself as a “blue-haired transgender lesbian atheist.”
The book also contains scenes depicting eunuchs mutilating their own genitals and committing rape.
“This is really insidious. It’s so sneaky and devious. It’s really an act of Satan to create a book like this which on the surface seems upbeat and loving but underneath it’s such a poor portrayal of God,” Stuckey said.
