On Friday’s episode of Fox Business Network’s “Making Money,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent candidate for the 2024 presidential election, said Democrats are “destroying our democracy” in the name of “protecting our democracy.”
Kennedy said:[W]When I was a kid, the central focus of the Democratic Party was to make sure that every American could vote for whoever they wanted to vote for. Today, the Democratic Party is doing the exact opposite of that: making sure that candidates who are opposed to the candidate of their choice don’t run. They’re using the legal system, the law enforcement, to block those candidates from running. They’ve made it nearly impossible for me to get on the ballot in every state. I intend to do that. In fact, we’ve collected all the signatures. I think there’s one state with a few hundred more signatures. We’ve collected over 2 million signatures. That’s more signatures than any presidential candidate in history. Against the headwinds they’ve created, we’ve done what no one else in history has been able to do. They’re suing us in every state, and we’re going to win the lawsuit. But that’s not a good image for the Democratic Party. They’re saying we have to do this to protect our democracy from Donald Trump, but in fact, the real argument is that we’re destroying our democracy to protect it.”
