Democratic strategist James Carville said Tuesday on MSNBC's “The Beat” that Democrats' “fascination with identity politics” was a big mistake in the 2024 election.
Carville said, “If you're reading an article in the New York Times in relation to this exotic position that I call identity politics, I give Harris credit, but she has “I didn't bring it up, but something like this is like having smoke on your clothes.” I got out of the fireplace. It cannot be washed away. And while those ideas are true, they never said that, how many millions of dollars did the Republican Party spend on anti-identity political positions that people took with the Democratic Party in 2019 and 2020? Do you know? There are many answers. Because in politics, the other side has an advantage. It will take another four years to wash away this smell from my clothes. ”
He added: “This stain has to be washed away, but it won't come off in one wash.To Ms. Harris's credit, she believes that all these positions I have taken are wrong.'' I said yes, but she didn't bring it up. So Liz Cheney is going to support her. What, she's going to run away from her? Most politicians I know. I like to get support from all sides. I don't think there's anything controversial about that. But you know, you can pick and choose what you like, but the Democratic Party.
