Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said Sunday on “Belsin” that discussions are taking place about President Joe Biden’s future as the party’s presidential nominee.
“This is what a real political party looks like, this is what a real political party does. Of course, there were huge problems with Joe Biden’s debate performance, and there is a tremendous amount of love for Joe Biden in our party. So, it’s a difficult situation for everybody, but we are a political party, and we have different points of view, so there are very honest, serious and rigorous conversations happening at all levels of our party.[ArtydoesobviouslythereisabigproblemwithJoeBiden’sdebateperformanceandthereisalsojustatremendousreserveofloveforJoeBideninourpartysothismakesadifficultsituationforeveryonebutthereareseriousandrigorousconversationshappeningataverylevelofourpartybecauseitisapoliticalpartyandwehavedifferencesinpointofview[artydoesObviouslytherewasabigproblemwithJoeBiden’sdebateperformanceandthereisalsojustatremendousreservoirofloveforJoeBideninourpartySothismakesitadifficultsituationforeverybodybutthereareveryhonestandseriousandrigorousconversationshappeningateverylevelofourpartybecauseitisapoliticalpartyandwehavedifferencesinpointofview”
“We are having serious discussions about what to do,” he continued.
Raskin added, “I can tell you that no matter what decision President Biden makes, our party will be united and our party needs to have him at the center of our debates and our campaigns. So whether he’s the nominee or someone else is the nominee, he’ll be the keynote speaker at our convention. He’ll be someone we can rally around as we move forward and defeat the forces of authoritarianism and reaction at home.”
