Dems Support Biden after Debate Performance: ‘Got Two More Swings’

Following President Joe Biden’s performance in the presidential debate with former President Donald Trump, several Democrats have issued messages of support for President Biden.

Rather than focusing on the negative, Democrats like Rep. James Clyburn (D-South Carolina) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have focused on the positive and continue to support Biden. according to To CBS News.

Clyburn called Biden’s debate performance “strike one,” after Biden appeared disoriented and frozen during the presidential debate, struggled to execute his prepared closing remarks and cited several false allegations that have since been denied, including the myth about “very fine people” and the allegation that Biden is a “stupid loser.”

“That was strike one,” Clyburn told the outlet. “If this was a baseball game, I’d have two more swings.”

Clyburn added that Democrats “should look at Biden’s record.”

“The focus should be on the substance,” Clyburn added. “We have a hard-working man who represents the American people. We have a shill who is trying to get him out of office.”

In the aftermath of the presidential debate, media members, Democratic Party officials, donors and voters panicked, questioning whether Biden could serve another term as president and floated the idea of replacing him.

Pelosi told the outlet that Biden had projected “sincerity” while Trump had “lied continuously” and shown “dishonesty.”

“You see honesty on the one hand and dishonesty on the other hand compared to someone who’s been lying all this time,” Pelosi said. “That’s how I see it.”

As Breitbart News previously reported, Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon released a memo on Saturday claiming that “internal post-debate polling” showed voters continued to support Biden and that “the debate did not change the course of the race.”

Former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton also issued statements endorsing Biden, saying “there are bad nights in the debate.”

The Biden campaign has said he is “not withdrawing” from the presidential race.

Biden met with his family at Camp David on Sunday and reportedly received encouragement from them, including his son Hunter Biden, to remain in the presidential race.
