The defendants named in the 30-page lawsuit are Representative Lorena Garcia, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Mike Wiseman, Representative Leslie Herrod, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Julie Gonzalez, and Daphna Michelson Gene. Senator.all are democrats.
“Continuing discussions about trans ideology in many schools and workplaces have given rise to pronoun rituals, with some people choosing to announce their pronouns as a matter of course, and many trans “People of all genders insist on being referred to by their preferred pronouns, including fictitious and plural pronouns,” the complaint states. “Americans are also debating whether and when to call people by new transgender-inspired names.

Colorado lawmakers “unlawfully trampled on the First Amendment” because the group’s public comments did not conform to Democratic Party “ideology,” said Jamie, founder of Gays Against Groomers. Michelle told FOX News Digital in a statement.

In introducing Tiara’s Law, Gonzalez asked public commenters to refrain from using “derogatory language, misgendering a witness, or using the dead name of a witness.” Wiseman then codified Gonzalez’s requests, making them rules during hearings and completely banning some people from testifying in public.
The bill was originally named after Tiara Latrice Kelly, a Colorado transgender woman who had three misdemeanor sex work charges in Florida, Colorado Newsline reported. The House voted against formally naming the bill the Tiara Act after Republicans argued that it should not name people with criminal records.
Other bills regarding transgender individuals have also passed through the Colorado Legislature, including one that would create a category of gender-based hate crimes.
Lawmakers named in the lawsuit did not respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.
