Denisse Oleas-Arancibia murdered in New York City hotel room with iron

New York City police are searching for a man they believe beat a woman to death with an iron in a Manhattan hotel room. Police said the suspect was captured on surveillance footage running from the crime scene covered in blood, wearing leggings that the alleged victim had previously worn.

The murdered mother’s family contacted staff at the Soho 54 Hotel to conduct a medical examination. On February 7, a hotel employee knocked on the door, which had a “Do Not Disturb” sign on it. When the worker entered the room, she saw a woman lying on the floor.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenney Said“He saw the victim lying on the floor.” [covered by] blanket. [He] Without thinking, I went back downstairs, thinking the woman was sleeping on the floor. ”

However, around 10:30 a.m. on February 8, the horribly injured body of 38-year-old Dennis Oleas-Aranchibia was discovered in his hotel room by his housekeeper.

A bloody iron was found near the body. Kenney said “there was a piece of plastic embedded in my head” from the iron, and Oleas Aranchibia, from Queens, also suffered bruises all over her body.

An autopsy determined that Oleas-Aranchibia died of strangulation and blunt force trauma.

Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police also found bloodstained men’s pants in the hotel room.

Surveillance camera footage showed the suspect exiting the hotel wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a tan jacket and light-colored leggings.

Investigators believe the leggings the man was seen wearing belonged to Oleas Aranchibia.

“There is footage of the woman arriving at the scene wearing different leggings, and then there is footage of the man leaving the hotel wearing the same leggings,” Kenney said.

Police were able to track the suspect’s movements through the victim’s MetroCard and credit card transactions.
