Dennis Quaid Reflects on His “Paradise” Marriage
Dennis Quaid, now 71, continues to feel like he’s in the honeymoon phase of his marriage to 32-year-old Laura Savoy, whom he wed five years ago. He describes his life as “paradise,” sharing that every moment spent with her brings him joy. “It’s the closest relationship I’ve ever had,” he remarked, expressing his profound appreciation for her presence in his life.
The couple’s love story began at a business event when they were pursuing their second master’s degrees at the Texas McCombs School of Business. Despite the significant age gap, Quaid insists it’s not something he focuses on. “I don’t really notice it,” he admitted, emphasizing that Savoy is simply “the light of my life.”
Quaid wasn’t actively looking for a relationship when he met Savoy; he said it just happened. Their original wedding plans in Hawaii were eventually scrapped due to the pandemic, leading them to elope in Santa Barbara on June 2, 2020. Quaid fondly recalls her as the “most stunning bride,” and Savoy has echoed his sentiments, noting that being with someone who embraces life is incredibly fulfilling for her.
Though they’ve faced outside opinions regarding their age difference, Quaid maintains that it doesn’t affect their bond. “I can’t comment on how others feel about it,” he stated, “but it really doesn’t bother us.” The star of “When Harry Met Sally” has a history of relationships, including two prior marriages, but it’s clear that his connection with Savoy is unique and special.
Throughout interviews, Quaid highlights how their shared Christian faith has solidified their relationship, believing it’s been a guiding force. As they both look toward the future together, it’s evident that the couple embraces each day joyfully, each other, and the bond they’ve created.
