According to new information, New York City police officers were at the home of 47-year-old Karen Sackett for nine days before she was found decomposing in her home just days after her birthday. It was reported several times.
Sackett, a dental hygienist, reported that she was found on Nov. 4, 2024, in her longtime home, which was owned by nearby Iona College. News 12 Westchesterquoting an interview with the family.
Sackett shared a home in New Rochelle with her boyfriend, who was employed by the university.
“They were having problems and she wanted to get away from him,” Sackett's brother, Chris Sackett, told the magazine.

Documents reviewed by Fox News Digital reveal the couple's turbulent relationship from 2017 to 2023. By the time police found her on November 4, 2024, authorities had been to the apartment complex nine times for welfare checks, disputes, and suspected domestic violence incidents.
In a suspected domestic violence incident on July 12, 2018, Sackett called police complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath “due to an assault from her boyfriend.”
She later told police in a “very low voice” that she called because she needed a “detox” from him. Police said Mr Sackett had been “totally uncooperative” and did not press charges.
In some cases, the police have been called to domestic disputes.
Recent 911 call records reviewed by Fox News Digital also revealed two welfare checks on Sept. 25 and Sept. 26.

University officials are said to have come across Sackett's decomposed body while evicting her from her apartment complex, which was owned by a local university.
The boyfriend, who police have not identified, was out of state at the time of her death, local media reported, citing police.

Police are continuing to investigate the death, which appears to be natural causes. The Westchester medical examiner is preparing a toxicology report to determine Sackett's cause of death.
In her obituary, Sackett's family remembered her as a “vibrant soul” who was dedicated to her profession as a dental hygienist and loved her family and friends.
“Karen was a dedicated dental hygienist known for her gentle touch, kindness, and genuine care for her patients. She found joy in putting others at ease, was enthusiastic about her work, and often “Her welcoming smile brightened the days of her patients,” the obituary said.
“Aside from work, Karen was a vibrant soul with many passions. She had an impeccable sense of style, loved fashion and always brought her own unique flair wherever she went. Karen took a photo. She had a natural eye for the truth, capturing the beauty of everyday moments and turning them into cherished memories. Above all, she loved her family and loved her nieces and nephews who brought her endless joy. He had a special place in his heart for his nephews.”

The obituary said that Sackett's dog, Chloe, died days after her owner's death, adding that it was “comforting to think we might be reunited again.”
