Denzel Perryman Not Facing Criminal Charges After Traffic Stop

Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is off the hook for criminal charges after five firearms were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to California law enforcement officials.

Perryman, aged 32, was stopped by a deputy on Friday evening for a vehicle code violation, which led to the discovery of the weapons, including two rifles described as “attack style.” It seems like quite the situation, doesn’t it?

On August 1, 2025, at around 9:30 PM, the sheriff’s office reported that Perryman was stopped in South Los Angeles. During the stop, authorities located the five firearms in his car. Initially, he faced a felony charge and was held without bail, but surprisingly, he was released by 1 PM the following day.

Online prison records only show that he was detained, and it appears the District Attorney’s Office has yet to make a statement regarding the incident. After being temporarily brought in, Perryman left without any charges officially pressed.

He was drafted by the Chargers back in 2015, sticking with the team until 2020. After a brief stint with the Houston Texans and the Las Vegas Raiders, he signed a one-year contract in 2024, making a return to the Chargers. It’s certainly a whirlwind of events for him to deal with, especially considering the implications this could have on his team’s defensive plans.
