Denzel Washington gives a sharp criticism of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones

Denzel Washington Expresses Frustration with Dallas Cowboys

Denzel Washington, a prominent figure in Hollywood and a longtime Dallas Cowboys fan, shared his thoughts on the current state of the team. Speaking on ESPN’s First Take while promoting his latest film, Washington voiced his dissatisfaction with the franchise, especially as they near a concerning Super Bowl drought.

During his conversation with host Stephen A. Smith, Washington directed some pointed remarks towards Jerry Jones, the Cowboys’ owner, highlighting the team’s ongoing struggles. “I don’t like what (Jones) is doing… I respect the owner, but I don’t like what it does to the fans,” he remarked, suggesting that Jones seems more focused on his financial interests rather than the loyalty of the fans. It’s a sentiment that resonates with many who watch the team closely.

Additionally, tensions seem to be brewing within the team itself. Star pass rusher Micah Parsons has expressed frustration over contract negotiations with management, leading to speculation about a potential trade. Washington implied that the way Jones is handling Parsons’ situation could ultimately harm the fans who support the team through thick and thin.

“All money is not good money, Jerry!” Washington advised, emphasizing that decisions should prioritize the fans’ experience as much as profit. After his comments, he attempted to steer the conversation back to his film, but the weight of his words about the team lingered.

A devoted Cowboys fan since the 1960s, Washington’s feelings echo a collective frustration among many supporters. Although Parsons had a solid season last year, returning with 12 sacks despite missing four games, concerns continue about his future with the franchise.

Last week, Jones openly expressed uncertainty about Parsons’ status for the upcoming season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, leaving many fans questioning the team’s direction. While the Cowboys have celebrated three Super Bowl titles under Jones’ ownership, the harsh reality is that they haven’t made it to the championship game since 1995.
