Deontay Wilder is facing some disturbing allegations.
The boxing star’s fiancée, Shuntelle “Teri” Swift, applied for and was granted a temporary restraining order against him. According to USA TodayShe alleges that Wilder, 38, assaulted her at least 10 times.
Swift, 37, reportedly claims that Wilder choked her at least five times and attacked her in front of the couple’s six-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son.
Wilder, a former WBC heavyweight champion, allegedly choked her until she nearly lost consciousness, leaving her with bruises.
Swift also alleged that when her son was 11, Wilder slammed his head into the side of a car.
She said Wilder’s mental state had deteriorated since he began to struggle in his professional boxing career.
Wilder and Swift have been dating since 2015 and got engaged in 2018.
Swift feared how Wilder would react upon his return from Saudi Arabia following his June 1 knockout loss to Zhang Zhilei.
It was Wilder’s second straight loss and his fourth in his last five fights.
According to the report, Swift claims Wilder “went mad at me and my family. I asked him to go to therapy, but he wouldn’t get help.”
“At that point he was struggling to get into games that would advance his career and was emotionally unstable. He would often cry and scream at home.”
Swift said the abuse has worsened since he lost his unanimous case to Joseph Parker in December.
“Deontay became more and more emotionally abusive towards me,” Swift said. “As he became more and more aggressive and controlling, I endured in silence because I did not want to put him through any more emotional pain.”
Swift alleged that Wilder had at least 12 guns, including machine guns and assault rifles, spread across three homes.
Although the situation has worsened, Swift said the abuse is not new.
She claims she tried to break up with him in 2017 while pregnant, but Wilder hid the keys to her house and car and wouldn’t let her leave.
Swift claimed she had recently begun to suspect Wilder of cheating, which she claims is not true, but says she has evidence of his infidelity.
Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) was the most famous American boxer throughout his career, having risen to stardom with a ferocious knockout streak.
His knockout win percentage (97.6%) is the best in heavyweight history.
But inside the ring, he will be most remembered for his iconic trilogy with Tyson Fury.
The two fought to a draw in their first bout and Wilder then lost two others, which Swift claims is when his mental health began to decline.
