Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump doesn't understand women's health care needs because he doesn't live a normal life.
“Donald Trump was rallying with supporters in North Carolina on Saturday afternoon, and you can hear what he said about what will happen if he wins in a few weeks,” host Jake Tapper said.
“Women will be happier, healthier, more confident and free — and they'll never even think about abortion,” Trump said at a campaign rally.
“He says it's because it's going back to the states where it belongs. What's your response?” Tapper said.
“It's just ridiculous. So I don't think this guy understands what the average woman in this country goes through in life. How could he understand? He's never lived a normal life, whereas Kamala Harris has an hourly job and she knows how important it is for women to have health care and get the medical care they need,” Whitmer said. “So he's lost his mind.”
She added: “We would all be happier if Republicans stayed out of our doctor's offices. We would all be safer. We would all be able to make decisions about our own bodies. There is no doubt that Donald Trump's appointees on the United States Supreme Court have stripped these rights from many American women.”
