Derek Carr ‘would welcome’ a Davante Adams reunion

It's no surprise that Derek Carr is open to playing with Davante Adams again.

“I think all 32 quarterbacks want to play with Davante,” the Saints quarterback and former Raider told reporters Thursday.

Adams made headlines around the NFL earlier this week after reportedly requesting a trade from the Raiders, with ESPN reporting that the Saints and Jets are high on Adams' wish list.

Both teams have quarterbacks Adams played with, Aaron Rodgers of the Packers (2014-21), and Carr, who played one season in Las Vegas in 2022.

“We welcome it,” Kerr told reporters about Adams coming to New Orleans. Per ESPN. “I don't know if I'm going to get in trouble for saying something like that. I think everyone kind of knows that…I think everyone would want to play with Tay. I don't know if we're going to get in trouble for saying that. I would certainly welcome the opportunity to play with him again.”

Adams had one of the best NFL seasons of his career alongside Carr, who was also a college quarterback at Fresno State, with 1,516 receiving yards and an NFL-best 14 touchdown catches in 2022.

However, their reunion didn't last long, as the Raiders released Carr in 2023.

Although the 2022 Raiders (6-11) didn't win as many games as some expected, Kerr said “it wasn't all bad.”

“I think it was the second-best year of his career.” [with me]. It's true that we didn't do well because we didn't win many games. But I think we did a pretty good job of giving him the ball and scoring a lot of touchdowns,” Kerr said.

The two remain close, and Kerr said the two families still vacation together.

Kerr and Adams met this week but did not address trade rumors.

The signal caller explained that they don't talk about “business matters.”

The Raiders will reportedly consider trading Adams if the package includes a second-round draft pick and additional compensation.
