Derrick Henry fires back at critic over Ravens signing

Derrick Henry is at odds with longtime Titans writer Paul Kuharski.

Kuharski, who covers the Titans for his own independent site and was previously a reporter covering the team for ESPN, made critical statements about whether Tennessee fans were inclined to root for the running back after he left for the Ravens in free agency.

“If you root for Derrick Henry and want the Ravens to win the game then you’re not the Titans fan you think you are. Period. No argument needed,” Kuharski wrote to X on Friday morning.

“If they’re standing on the goal line at the end of the game and they’re down by four and you want him to score then you’re not the TEN fan you think you are.”

Henry saw the tweet and fired off a six-word response: “Paul, find something to do.”

Kuharski then explained why, noting that there is a bit of a rivalry between the Ravens and Titans.

Kuharski was presented with a hypothetical scenario in which the Ravens would face the Titans’ AFC South division rivals, the Texans. Responded“That’s one game. What I’m saying makes perfect sense. The Ravens are probably the #1 most hated team for the majority of TEN fans.”

In 2021, the Ravens eliminated the Titans from the playoffs with a 20-13 win in the wild-card round, avenging the Titans’ 28-12 win in the divisional round the previous year.

In recent years, there has been some bickering between the two teams when they meet, including a heated exchange in London last year between then-Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Titans defensive end Jeffrey Simmons that apparently continued after the game.

Henry signed a two-year contract with the Ravens this offseason, paying him a salary of $16 million with $9 million guaranteed.

He played his first eight seasons with the Titans, with the highlight coming in 2020 when he rushed for more than 2,000 yards and won the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year award.
