Des Moines weather man quits over PTSD from death threat he received because of his global-warming activism

A chief meteorologist at a news agency in Des Moines, Iowa, said he suffered PTSD from death threats he received for his work against global warming, and quit his job.

Chris Groninger posted a “quick goodbye” to KCCI-TV viewers in a Twitter statement on Wednesday.

“I am saying goodbye to television and embarking on a new journey to help solve the climate crisis,” he wrote. statement.

A Lenox, Iowa man later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of harassment over emails sent to Mr. Groninger and was fined $105 by Polk County Iowa District Court.

Groninger said he plans to join the consulting organization Woods Hole Group as chief scientist on global warming.
