AJ Brown has been quite open about his frustrations with the Eagles this season, and one insider thinks there’s more to the story than just his role in the game plan.
In a recent episode of his “House of Action” Podcast, former NFL player DeSean Jackson commented on the strained relationship between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts, suggesting it goes beyond what’s happening on the field.
“There’s something else at play,” Jackson—who played for the Eagles for a couple of stints over his 15-year career—shared. “I had a strong relationship with him, but I can’t speak for everyone. But I know it’s not just about football. I’ve been in situations with QBs I didn’t necessarily get along with, and trust me, when that connection isn’t there, it’s pretty noticeable.”
Brown, now 28, hasn’t held back in voicing his discontent with the season, even taking aim at media narratives and comparing the current atmosphere to a livestream “show.”
Although the team boasts an 8-2 record as they look to defend their Super Bowl title, Hurts has emerged as a controversial figure, with reports surfacing about his playing style and practice habits.
“I’m not shocked by any of it,” Hurts, 27, stated on Wednesday. “That’s just part of the position.”
He added, “I focus on doing my best, learning, improving—just trying to get better every day,” according to ESPN.
The once-thriving Eagles offense seems to be struggling this season, ranking 25th in total yards per game (300.1) and 28th in passing yards (184.9), as per ESPN.
Hurts, completing 66.9 percent of his passes this year, emphasized the importance of finding his rhythm. “I take pride in our offensive efforts. It starts with me. That’s always my approach—looking inward first and then moving forward,” he said.
The Eagles are set to face their rivals, the Cowboys, this Sunday afternoon.
