Illegal Immigrant Truck Driver Charged in Fatal Crash in California
A tragic incident occurred in Lodi, California, where an illegal immigrant named Manveer Singh has been charged with vehicular manslaughter following a deadly semi-truck crash. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed that Singh was arrested and subsequently released at the Arizona border earlier this year.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and other federal officials are advocating for Delilah’s Law, a proposed measure aimed at prohibiting commercial driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.
In a related matter, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is seeking to detain another illegal immigrant, Javier Pena Sola, who is alleged to have been involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the deaths of three individuals in Salisbury, North Carolina, on July 18. Authorities used a police K-9 to locate him after he fled the scene.
Two of the victims died right away, while the third was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Witnesses reported chaos at the scene, with one bystander, Quindell Woods, recalling the desperate screams and frantic scene as they dragged Sola out of the car.
Sola’s vehicle was eventually discovered in a nearby stream, leading to charges of three counts of hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death. ICE has formally requested that local authorities take him into custody.
Lauren Biss, an Assistant Secretary at DHS, noted that Sola had a previous arrest back in 2016 but was released afterward. She indicated that he entered the U.S. again in April 2022 and emphasized that the deaths resulting from this incident were entirely preventable. “Open borders and sanctuary policies lead to dire consequences,” she stated.
Sola’s criminal background includes past convictions in Maryland for reckless endangerment, failure to stop after causing an accident, and driving without a license. After a separate arrest for escaping custody, he was turned over to federal agents in 2016 but was released by the Obama administration shortly thereafter, as per ICE reports.
