New aerial photos show the complete destruction of the once vibrant Los Angeles area known as the Pacific Palisades, much of it reduced to ashes and dust in historic wildfires.
This celebrity-filled community was once home to beautiful million-dollar homes, palm trees, and all the colorful subtle touches that contribute to an idyllic suburban setting.
Now, disturbing photos show the neighborhood resembling a bombed-out battlefield, with gray smoke billowing from the charred remains of a rectangular lot that just days ago had a median price of $2 million.
The devastation was captured by a drone on Wednesday after dangerous winds in Santa Ana subsided, allowing helicopters and planes to fly in to drop much-needed water.
However, although the winds subsided overnight into Wednesday, authorities warned they could pick up again into Friday.
The huge fire reduced almost every building in sight to rubble, leaving an entire city block without any sign of life.
The Palisades Fire was still 0% contained as of Thursday night and had already burned 30,000 acres.
Some celebrities are among those who lost their homes in the Pacific Palisades.
Jeff Bridges, Billy Crystal, Martin Short, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Anna Faris, Eugene Levy and John Goodman all lived in the once beautiful Pacific Palisades. I lost my house.
