DHL Express restarts global shipments of packages worth over $800 to US consumers

DHL Express is resuming shipments from businesses in other countries worth more than $800 to US consumers.

The parcel delivery company announced the move Monday, marking the end of a temporary suspension of over $800 operating (B2C) shipments to the US, enacted about a week ago.

DHL Express said on its website that it “resumed the shipping of B2C shipments addressed to US individuals whose declared value exceeds USD 800 on Monday.”

The temporary suspension of over $800 cargo to the US was caused by a change in regulations placing such parcels on formal customs clearance, but according to the parcel delivery company, shipments worth $800 to $2,500 can be cleared again using a quick, informal entry process. ”

“The decision to resume cargo following the constructive dialogue between the DHL and the US government has shown a strong will to understand our operational and technical challenges and agreed that it is essential to act promptly in the interests of US consumers,” DHL Express said.

The company noted to its customers that while it resumed its services and functioned through the backlog, it could still encounter delays in cargo with cargo to the US.

“DHL Express appreciates our focus, our customers’ opportunity to contribute to the development of this new regulations by the US government,” the company said. “We are prioritized to effectively support your needs and we consider this development a positive step in continuing to promote international trade.”

DHL Express, part of the large German-based DHL group, focuses primarily on “internatally clear of time” services.

Globally, around 276 million TDI cargoes were engraved last year.
