DHS Chief Mullin: ‘I Hold No Respect’ for Zohran Mamdani

Democrat Response to ICE Aimed at Shifting Focus from Trump’s Economic Recovery

Homeland Security Secretary Criticizes NYC Mayor

During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “America Report,” Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Marin expressed strong disapproval for New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani, stating he has “absolutely no respect” for him.

A portion of the discussion revealed some key points:

JOHN ROBERTS: Secretary, while you’re well-funded moving forward, you mentioned that because of the stubbornness of officials in New York State and New York City regarding cooperation with ICE, there may be a need to send more agents into the area to arrest individuals living here illegally. Mayor Mamdani is pushing back against this; let’s hear his recent comments.

Mamdani: We’ve consistently heard threats about escalating immigration enforcement in the city. To be clear, I view ICE raids as cruel and inhumane, and they do not enhance public safety.

ROBERTS: Earlier this week, we spoke with border czar Tom Homan, who mentioned that New York’s lack of cooperation with ICE endangers its residents. What is your response to the mayor?

Marin: He’s absolutely right. First off, Mamdani is a socialist communist, and I truly have no respect for that. He’s managing a major city while allowing crime to flourish on the streets. President Trump campaigned on restoring law and order to American cities, even those considered sanctuary cities. I’ve said this repeatedly—it’s irrelevant whether a city is red or blue. Our priority is homeland protection. In sanctuary cities like Mamdani’s, criminals find refuge in New York City but then spread out to other parts of New York and beyond to continue their illegal activities. So, we will target the root of the crime. President Trump has often noted that 98% of Americans are law-abiding citizens. It’s that 2% that wreaks havoc and undermines our communities. We’re focused on pursuing the worst offenders, including in New York, and Mamdani isn’t in a position to change that. We’re committed to enforcing the law without discretion based on his preferences.
