An investigation involving Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) appears to have intensified as agents from Homeland Security Investigations searched her home in Washington, D.C. early Monday, as reported by various sources.
The raid seems to be linked to some immigration documents that Omar’s deceased father had completed for her when she was younger.
‘This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.’
Born in Somalia in October 1982, Omar indicated in a 2018 interview that she had become a naturalized U.S. citizen before reaching the age of 18.
For almost ten years, there have been discussions about whether Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is Omar’s biological brother and whether she married him to facilitate his immigration status in the U.S.
Interestingly, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin seemed to validate those claims during a Republican midterm meeting last month.
Mullin stated, “We know that she married her brother to try to bring him to the United States,” adding that “he lives now in London.”
He confirmed that there is an “investigation” happening and hinted that “something’s gonna happen.”

A couple of days after Mullin’s remarks, immigration enforcement head Tom Homan confirmed that there was an “ongoing criminal investigation” regarding Omar.
“If someone violated immigration laws, or engaged in marriage fraud or anything like that, no matter if they are a congressman or not, they are not above the law,” Homan stated.
According to reports, several individuals wearing HSI jackets were spotted outside Omar’s residence around 6 a.m. Monday. Authorities from both the DHS and the DOJ are participating in this investigation.
“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” a spokesperson from the DOJ shared in a statement.
A televised report on the matter provided a similar but slightly varied statement: “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.”
It remains unclear if Omar was present during the raid.
Efforts to contact Omar’s office drew no response, and her campaign has not returned requests for comments.
This is a breaking story.
