Trump’s DHS Promotes Self-Reporting for Illegal Immigrants
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under President Donald Trump has launched advertisements encouraging undocumented immigrants in the U.S. to report themselves.
The campaign highlights DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and promotes the CBP Home mobile application. This app allows illegal immigrants to voluntarily leave the U.S. with the option of free flights back to their home countries.
“If you’re in the U.S. without legal status, this is your chance to head home,” Noem states in the advertisement. “By downloading the CBP Home App and reporting yourself, you can make this process straightforward, like those who made the right decision. You might receive up to $1,000 in assistance, free flights, and even the possibility of returning to America legally.”
She adds a cautionary note:
We will find you, and if that happens, you’ll face substantial fines, detention, and be removed from our country. Don’t miss this opportunity—this could be your last chance to leave legally. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are committed to upholding the law and securing our borders.

The ads will be aired on television and online in various languages, targeting both U.S. residents and audiences abroad.
Noem explained further, stating, “The CBP Home App gives undocumented immigrants the choice to leave and self-deport now, allowing them a potential future return to pursue their version of the American dream. If they don’t take action, we will locate them, deport them, and they won’t be able to come back.”
DHS officials report that tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants have utilized the CBP Home app to voluntarily leave the U.S. in just six months. The government is also applying financial incentives to encourage self-deportation, which proves to be less costly than state-managed deportation flights.
Since Trump assumed office, DHS has issued approximately 10,000 fines to undocumented individuals.
