DHS reports that 3 million undocumented immigrants departed the US during the Trump years

DHS Highlights Achievements Under Trump Administration

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently declared “historic progress” attributed to President Donald Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem. In a statement, they pointed out that close to 3 million undocumented immigrants have left the U.S., claiming the current border situation is “the most secure” in history.

This announcement came as Trump delivered his first State of the Union address since returning to the presidency. It praised policies geared towards lowering border crossings significantly, enhancing immigration enforcement, and saving taxpayers a substantial amount, while also criticizing Congressional Democrats for reducing DHS funding.

“Over the past 13 months, the Trump administration’s strict measures on illegal immigration led to almost 3 million individuals leaving the country,” Noem noted. This figure includes an estimated 2.2 million who voluntarily departed and over 713,000 who were forcibly returned.

Noem also mentioned that the level of border security achieved during Trump’s term was “less than a month” under Joe Biden’s administration, while stating taxpayers saved over $13.2 billion.

“Countless lives have been saved, communities strengthened, and Americans prioritized again,” she stated.

According to DHS, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested and removed more than 1,500 individuals suspected of terrorism in the past year. Additionally, a nationwide operation has led to approximately 8,000 arrests linked to gangs, including members of notorious groups.

The DHS introduced a new web page titled “The Worst of the Worst,” aimed at tracking criminal immigrants captured during the administration’s enforcement operations.

On a related note, the Coast Guard reported significant drug seizures through its counternarcotics operations, confiscating around 550,000 pounds of illegal substances worth over $3.9 billion, preventing more than 206 million doses from entering the U.S.

In a separate matter, the DHS revealed efforts to locate 145,000 unaccompanied children who reportedly went missing under the previous administration, emphasizing that too many of these children had suffered exploitation or abuse during their trafficking.

The DHS reiterated comments made during Trump’s address, attributing the partial government shutdown to Democrats blocking funds for the department, which they claimed jeopardizes the safety and pay of those protecting the nation.

In his speech, Trump expressed frustration with Democrats for not achieving a funding agreement. He insisted on the immediate restoration of full funding for DHS and security operations.
