Diane Keaton's spin teacher recalls their 'funny, silly' bond with the late actress

Diane Keaton Remembered Fondly by Former Spin Instructor

Adam Goldstein, a spin instructor from Santa Monica, has shared heartfelt memories of actress Diane Keaton, who he used to see regularly at his classes from around 2014 to 2019.

In an Instagram tribute, Goldstein described her as “one of the kindest, funniest, down-to-earth people” he ever met. He and his daughter attended classes every Saturday morning and would often chat with Keaton before and after their sessions.

“She would come to class early and stay a little late,” Goldstein recounted to Page Six. They would exchange stories, though specific details of their conversations are a bit hazy for him now. They did often discuss the music played during class.

Goldstein recalled a particular moment when he made a CD of his workout playlist. Keaton expressed heartfelt gratitude for that gesture, further solidifying their “jovial relationship.” He noted how she had a unique style, often appearing in a hat, sunglasses, and a pinstripe suit, which made her stand out in class. “At first, we were all a bit surprised, like, ‘Is she really going to take that class?'” he said with a chuckle.

He emphasized how kind she was to everyone, mentioning that the atmosphere on Saturday mornings felt special because of her presence. “She treated the staff and fellow participants with such respect. Everyone knew Diane Keaton was there,” he reflected.

Goldstein shared a light-hearted photo of himself with Keaton, where she playfully grabbed his nose and made bunny ears behind his head. The actress passed away at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy marked by admiration.

Since the news of her unexpected death on Saturday, tributes have flooded social media from colleagues such as Steve Martin, Nancy Meyers, Bette Midler, and Goldie Hawn. The cause of her passing has not yet been disclosed, but friends noted they were taken aback by her significant weight loss when they last saw her less than a month ago.

Songwriter Carol Bayer Sager expressed her disbelief at Keaton’s rapid health decline, reflecting on how special she was. “She brought so much energy and creativity into every moment,” Sager said.

Diane Keaton is survived by her two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke.
